7. He Went Spiky - Fantastic Four #310 (1988)
In the 1980s, the Fantastic Four had several run-ins with an oil minister called Fasaud. After transforming himself into electric energy, Fasaud intended to transmit his consciousness into a satellite so he could access any technology in the world.
Sharon Ventura, who was Ms. Marvel at the time, headed into space with Thing to stop Fasaud from initiating his plan. Even though the heroes were successful, Fasaud took control over their spaceship, forcing them to pass through a cosmic ray storm.
Since it was these same cosmic rays which transformed Ben into Thing, he was horrified to see his body mutate even further, causing him to develop a spiky and jagged exterior.
