10 Worst Things The Punisher Has Ever Done

5. Blows Up Johnny Nightmare - Nightmare

Punisher Max Shotgun
Marvel Comics

Jake Niman and Frank Castle have a lot in common. Both are ex-soldiers who returned home from war to have their families slaughtered just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only real difference is that Jake Niman was experimented on during his time in the service and that left him with enhanced everything, as well as an alter ego he calls Johnny Nightmare.

As they hunt down those responsible, slowly but surely Niman transforms into Johnny Nightmare. This wouldn't be a bad thing except that he doesn't just see criminals as the enemy - he sees everyone as equally guilty, and it comes down to the Punisher to stop him.

What follows is a sewer throw-down for the ages where all the tricks Frank uses are just shrugged off. Gatling gun? No problem. Rocket launcher to the face? 'Tis but a mere flesh wound.

But just when it looks like curtains for Frank he produces his ace in the hole: nine blocks of C4 strapped to Johnny's back. One incendiary round later, and they'd be scraping Johnny Nightmare off the sidewalk for weeks.
