11 Comic Book Characters Who Killed Their Loved Ones

Orion Final Crisis
DC Comics

Darkseid is one of the most clinical and violent beings in all of comics. Even though his son Orion has for so long butted heads with this most chilling of villains, that still doesn't take away the fact that Orion still has a special place in his heart for Darkseid.

You can't choose your parents, and for poor Orion his dad just so happens to be a cruel tyrant intent on complete and utter domination at any cost. For Orion, the prophecy of the New Gods states that he is the only person capable of killing Darkseid, and thus he knows that somewhere down the line he's going to have to murder his own father if Darkseid's reign of terror is ever to come to a close.

During the Countdown run that led up to Final Crisis, we see Orion finally topple his father by pulling out Darkseid's heart.

For a character who had so rarely tasted true defeat up until that point in time, it was huge to see Darkseid put down in such a definitive way.

Well, apart from when this would all be rendered moot when DC tried to explain that Darkseid's essence had actually travelled back in time, we'd get more Boss Dark Side on Earth, and then a bullet would be shot back in time to kill Orion.

Still, even though his old man was an uber-rogue of the highest order, one has to imagine that killing your own father - even if that person is Darkseid - was tough emotionally for Orion to decide on.
