11 Justice League Fates Worse Than Death

4. Finding Your Granddaughter's Dead Body - Cry For Justice

Justice League Superman Batman Wonder Woman
DC Comics

From James Robinson, Mauro Cascioli and Scott Clark, 2009's Cry for Justice was a rough, rough ride for Oliver Queen.

This tale famously pushed the Emerald Archer to (and past) his limits.

In Cry for Justice, the villainous Prometheus stepped up to the plate in a major way, killing Freedom Beast, Gloss and Tasmanian Devil, and doing some hefty damage to Batwoman, Crimson Avenger and Barry Allen. And when he gets himself into the JLA Watchtower, this rogue embarks on a mission that would prove tragic for Green Arrow.

First up, Ollie's fellow Leaguer and 'son' Roy Harper has an arm sliced off by Prometheus, and then this no-good sort reveals his plan to blow up the home cities of several heroes - starting with the Star City home of Oliver and Roy.

As the Master Bowman makes his way to Star City, he soon discovers the corpse of his granddaughter Lian buried beneath some rubble. Obviously furious at this, Oliver Queen ends Cry for Justice by doing something he'd long promised he wouldn't do: kill.

In the final image from this story, Green Arrow fatally fires an arrow through the skull of Prometheus.

Of course, by this point, Roy Harper as Red Arrow is also a member of the Justice League, meaning he's another Leaguer hit hard - losing both his arm and his daughter.
