While it's already been detailed how Bruce Wayne isn't exactly the most trusting of people, it's impossible not to feel for the Caped Crusader when taking a look at 2004's Identity Crisis arc.

This seven-issue story begins with the shocking death of Sue Dibney, which in turn puts the Justice League on a hunt to track down the killer of Elongated Man's wife - with Doctor Light the prime suspect in this.

The reason why Light is the suspected murderer here? It's revealed how he'd attacked and raped Sue years prior at the Justice League's headquarters.

Once the League discovered the atrocities Doctor Light had done, seven of the group's members voted to have Zatanna mind-wipe the rogue. In doing that, Light had his personality changed to a more buffoon-like figure, and he was soon incarcerated.

What we'd come to learn in Identity Crisis, was that this exact same mind-wipe process was used on Batman. As explained by Green Arrow, the Dark Knight returned to JLA HQ just as Zatanna was erasing Light's memories - which sent Batman into a frenzy.

Those same Leaguers - Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Hawkman, Atom, Black Canary and the aforementioned Arrow and Zatanna - agreed to wipe the Caped Crusader's memories. So, not only did Batman undergo a mind-wipe, but this was done by his long-time teammates.
