The Fantastic Four were never fashion plates. Their costumes resembled footie pajamas with boots more than costumes for derring-do. But they were inimitable, cool in their dorkiness, perfectly representative of the legendary quartet.

Then things had to get edgy and Sue's outfit got sexed up to a ridiculous degree, thanks to the dark side of Sue, known as Malice. Gone was the bodysuit, replaced with short shorts and a Power Girl-esque boob window in the shape of a 4. It was a level of pathetic pandering not seen since the heyday of the Marvel swimsuit comics, and course correction for the outfit began about a year later, as the attempts to titillate were slowly dialed back.

Body coverage was restored - albeit with bare shoulders and opera gloves instead of a full bodysuit - but the return to a look inspired by the original PJs was a vast improvement.
