12 Captain America Moments That Shocked The World

6. He Took Crystal Meth

In the seven-part story, Streets of Poison, Captain America tackled drug pushers throughout Manhattan. As he hunted for the dealers, Cap became unstable and paranoid. He turned on his friends, beat up Daredevil, suffered hallucinations, stole the Kingpin's spaghetti, and started clucking like a chicken. (I swear this is true.)

His ally, Black Widow, realised why Cap was acting so odd. While fighting in a warehouse filled with narcotics several nights prior, Cap inhaled crystal meth and accidentally got high.

When Widow tried to warn Cap that he had been compromised, he grew angry and fired her from the Avengers. Realising that he wouldn't listen to reason, she had no choice but to take him down.

When he had his infected blood removed from his body, he also lost the Super Serum that gave him his power. The whole experience made Rogers feel like a hypocrite since it was drugs that turned him into Captain America in the first place.

And if you think this story is bizarre, the plot concludes with Kingpin and the Red Skull stripping down to their underwear and fighting inside a bubble. Even by comic standards, that's pretty weird.
