For many years, Daredevil was considered to be something of a low-level Marvel character. He's one of the many so-called 'street level' superheroes who deal with enemies less powerful than the type of folks the Avengers take on.

Despite his status, he has long been a fan-favorite. Blinded by radioactive waste while attempting to save a pedestrian's life, the Man Without Fear is capable of doing plenty acrobatically, and knows more about martial arts than just about anyone on the planet.

Daredevil first appeared in 1964's Daredevil #1, written by Stan Lee and penciled by Bill Everett. His book and the many characters introduced within have gone on to become some of the best Marvel has to offer.

Daredevil is, in many ways, like the Batman of the Marvel Universe... except he doesn't have the money or the Alfred. What he does have is a strict moral code and the willingness to set his own life aside to help others. By day, he fights for justice in the courtroom, but at night, he puts his life on the line to save those left behind by the Justice System. If he's anything, the man is admirable, which is why he remains one of Marvel's greatest superheroes.
