12 Lego Sets Every Marvel Fan Needs

8. The SHIELD Helicarrier (76042)

This is a large chunk of plastic. Well, actually, it’s nearly 3,000 small pieces weighing 5.44kg and stretching 59x49cm. Combined, they dominate any room. But then, it’s a SHIELD Helicarrier. There’s no justice except to make such a piece of hardware really honking big.

Released on the heels of Captain America: Winter Soldier, this 2015 release is neither a playset nor a diorama but rather a massive showpiece. It’s built in microscale, so it’s not meant for play as much as for display.

And as something meant to attract attention, it does so very well. Far more engrossing is the build process, with both the exterior sub-builds and inner framework proving challenging at times, even frustrating. Fans can sink as much as ten hours into bringing this set to life.

And despite not being built to minifigs scale, five minifigs are included: Cap, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Maria Hill, and Hawkeye. They have their own brick-built display shaped like the SHIELD logo.
