9. Swamp Thing Winter Special #1

Swamp Thing Winter Special
DC Comics/Jason Fabok

Release Date: January 31

Tom King can honestly do no wrong, and with the writer's slate for the upcoming year looking just as good his last, 2018 really is looking better than ever.

Following on from a brief contribution to the DC Holiday Special with a Sgt. Rock story with artist Francesco Francavilla, King will again set his sites to a one-off project with Swamp Thing. The ever talented Jason Fabok will provide pencils for the book, in a story that promises to be a fitting tribute to Swamp Thing co-creators Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. Both creators tragically passed in 2017, so to see them honoured this way is a prospect DC fans all over are sure to appreciate.

As for King and Fabok, the two are massive fans of the character, so the love for the Wein and Wrightson creation is sure to emanate off the page throughout the issue. The prospect of King also returning to the character somewhere later down the line can't be ruled out either, especially if Mister Miracle is set to conclude with its twelfth issue later this year.

It might be a one-off, but if it's a sign of things to come, there's even more cause for excitement than there was originally (and there already was a lot).
