In What If... story ...The Alien Costume Had Possessed Spider-Man? Spidey loses himself to the Symbiote before he can ask Mr Fantastic for help to free himself and ages at an accelerated rate before dying of old age after a few days. Bit of a downer.

It then infects Hulk (more of which soon) before Thor fights and defeats Venom and is himself possessed, which turns out to be Venom's plan all along. They spar mentally only for Black Bolt to manage to defeat the Symbiote before Black Cat killed it entirely in revenge for Spider-Man's death.
