12 Unfairly Hated DC Comics Characters
3. Hawkgirl
Or is it Hawkwoman? Sadly, every “Hawkperson” in the DC Universe seems to be supremely ignored. For a generation that grew up watching the “Justice League” cartoon, Hawkgirl was always the least favorite and least understood.
This is just poor branding on DC’s part, because she’s actually one of the most unique and storied characters in their stable. Did you know Hawkgirl was created in 1940, almost two years before Wonder Woman? That’s plenty of time to have gotten to know something about her. And have you?
Of course not, but that’s okay. Here's the gist: Sometimes she's a reincarnated Egyptian princess called Chay-Ara (who at one point becomes a Wild West bounty hunter), sometimes she's a cop from the planet Thanagar. Bottom line, she has fighting abilities gained from several lifetimes. She's powered by a belt made of Nth metal, which is psycho-reactive. And she’s good with a mace. If you like stories about reincarnation and love spanning centuries, give Hawkgirl a chance.
