4. The Boy's Got Spunk
Spunk is another one of those antiquated, but hilarious words that definitely doesn't have the same meaning now as it used to in the days most of these comics were published. Most of the time the phrase was used harmlessly, inferring that the character in question had pluck, or moxy or other things that people in Bugsy Malone say, and noone else in the entire world. But you have to question things like the example below, which seems to almost consciously reference the fact that the phrase has a double meaning, and which you wouldn't believe wasn't Photoshopped if you just came across it while browsing harmless comic book images on the net... Of course, there are more subtle examples, such as the obvious play on the parallel between Spider-Man's white emissions and a teenager sexually experimenting behind his closed bedroom door...
