Year ten of Powers of X did a fantastic job of filling in some important background details of what was going on in other areas at the current time. While there was plenty of focus on the mutants inhabiting Krakoa, there was the small question of how they managed to get the sentient island to agree to them living on it.

The key to understanding Krakoa lies in the mutant Cypher. For those that don't know, Cypher's mutant power allows him to communicate with pretty much anything and anyone. That includes humans, aliens, technology and Krakoa in this case.

Not only is he able to communicate with Krakoa and learn its history, he's also able to share Xavier's plan with it so they can begin the process of saving mutant-kind. Along with making an interface that allows mutants on the island to communicate using the newly-created Krakoan language, this was a major step in making sure Xavier's plans for a sovereign state came true.

He also joined forces with Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost of the Hellfire Corporation to make sure that Shaw's connections would allow them to transport the drugs from the Krakoan flowers to the rest of the world. To make sure that happens, he offers Frost and Shaw a spot on the Quiet Council of Krakoa.
