On the opposite side of things, sadly, lands January 2011 - which saw the fewest amount of comics ordered since Diamond opened their records.

A total of 4,402,000 individual issues shipped that month - a further eight before DC would embark on their ambitious though ultimately flawed 'New 52' Reboot.

The now defunct yet soon to be revived Fantastic Four topped the charts that month, with over 115,000 books reaching store shelves. Next up came Brightest Day, Geoff Johns' follow-up to Blackest Night, before Spawn appeared yet again with a mammoth sized 200th issue. No X-Men in the top five this time around, with the group having been displaced by a resurgent Avengers series penned by Brian Bendis, but there was a fair balance between the Big Two in the ten bestsellers when all was said and done.

A five million book difference is a major transition to see over a period of fourteen years, but things seem to have come around (slightly) since. With Marvel Legacy and DC Rebirth leading the charge for a newer but altogether more familiar brand of superheroics in an attempt to capture fans new and old, things are looking up for the industry.

Here's hoping it continues.
