Jean Grey has had a few different outfits over the years that could have featured here, the Dark Phoenix outfit being a prime example.

With that in mind, her lesser known X-Men: Blue outfit deserves the nod here instead. Several outfits on this list have come under criticism for being overdesigned, but with Jean Grey here, she’s given the perfect amount of flair. The colour combination of black, yellow and green works perfectly, just as it has on many of her outfits down the years.

The X across her chest is just kitsch enough, with the decision to go for black as the costume’s central colour helping the brighter tones pop. It all has a tone of the original Marvel Girl, while the Xs everywhere keep her very on brand.

The jacket and the haircut are where the whole thing really shines though. The hard fringe and relatively chopped length gave her an indie vibe, with the oversized, high waisted bomber jacket only adding to that. Hopefully we’ll see Sophie Turner channeling some of that coolness in Dark Phoenix when the movie comes out.
