Seeing as Loki is easily one of The Avengers' greatest villains, it's somewhat ironic that he's also responsible for bringing them together in the first place! That was due to his failed attempt to pit The Hulk against his brother Thor, and the God of Mischief has since been responsible for creating a number of the threats The Avengers have squared off against, often battling it out directly with them himself too. While a reborn Loki currently walks a fine line between being a hero and villain in the pages of his own solo series, the past few years have seen him play a key role in manipulating Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers into destroying Asgard and killing Olympian God of War Ares. The Ultimate version of the villain is just as bad as he convinced the team that Thor was insane and then tried to take over America!
