15 Greatest Joker Comics Of All Time

7. The Joker

Joker Rebirth
DC

Not even the first appearance of Batman himself can match the elemental power of The Joker’s 1940 debut. Bob Kane’s art still carries the shock of the immediate 75 years later. And it seems The Joker was an expert of media manipulation from the very beginning, spitefully announcing his first crimes over the radio.

It’s extra fun reading this one now with the knowledge that he was supposed to die at the end, accidentally stabbed in the heart by himself and collapsing with delightful disbelief.

He only survived by the grace of an editor who commissioned a last-minute panel of Joker recovering in an ambulance. Otherwise, this could have been the first and last Joker comic.
