As the father of Lois Lane, General Sam Lane may not be the biggest fan of Clark Kent, but he despises Superman. He's enacted countless plans to depower or stop Superman over the years, all in what he perceives to be in the best interests of Earth. However, the worrying thing is that he's often put the general populace in harm's way to do so, making this United States Army General a surprisingly big threat to Superman. With a shared interest in stopping Superman, Lane has inevitably found a close ally in Lex Luthor, and while he's not necessarily an evil man at heart, he should definitely be considered one of the Man of Steel's greatest foes. After all, he only just recently unleashed a near unstoppable alien on the world to stop Superman, only to later learn that he had his own plans for Earth. As human threats go, Lane is one of the biggest!
