15 Most Controversial DC Retcons Of All Time

2. The New 52

After Crisis On Infinite Earths, DC managed to build an incredibly elaborate universe that seemed to grow and change over the years. DC became known for their legacy characters such as Wally West, Connor Hawke and Stephanie Brown. With the JSA standing as the old guard, the JLA as the current guard, and the Teen Titans as the new guard, DC€™s universe had characters spanning generations. Its history was rich and growing, and then The New 52 wiped all of it away. When Barry Alan ushered in to The New 52 during the events of Flashpoint, he did so with the help of Pandora. Between the two of them, they managed to restructure the multiverse merging DC, Vertigo, and Wildstorm worlds into one Earth. This retconned all of the DC history, removing most legacy characters and shipping the JSA characters back to Earth 2*. Although DC managed to create much needed excitement with this reboot, many fans were angry about the loss of DC€™s rich history, especially legacy characters that had been around for years. *NOTE: There was a shift over the years in the way DC referred to their various Earths within the multiverse. Originally, each Earth€™s number was spelled out; currently, DC uses numerals when cataloguing their different Earths.

Since childhood, Bryant has been an avid fan of superheroes, and he has been reading comic books since 2006. His full name is "George Bryant Lucas"; however, after enduring countless Darth Vader jokes, he has chosen to go by his middle name. Born and raised in the United States, Bryant is currently living with his lovely wife in the country side of Wiltshire County, UK. Bryant does suffer from a mild case of dyslexia; misspellings and homonyms are to be expected on occasion.
