The Bat-Family is spectacularly incestuous. It's a good thing they're relations in name only, else those semi-regular stories which look at the future of crimefighting in Gotham City would consist of a bunch of inbred hicks in ill-fitting lycra barely managing to take down robots and then kissing each other. Garth Ennis has probably pitched this.
Thankfully they're not an actual family, but the closeness and surrogate father/mother/brother/sister figures getting down still has an edge of ickiness. Especially when their feelings come to the fore in the manner of the second Nightwing Annual, where kid Robin has the first stirrings of puberty whilst trapped in an air vent with Batgirl.
