10. Hank Pym, Model Husband

Hank Pym is one of the biggest jokes of the Marvel Universe. People mock his supposed intelligence, which pales in comparison to peers like Reed Richards and Tony Stark. People laugh at his constant attempts to reinvent himself, having taken the aliases Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath, Yellowjacket and even Scientist Supreme over the course of his career. Then there is his terrible, terrible track record as a husband to fellow Avenger Janet van Dyne, better known as the Wasp, better known as the wife who Hank Pym beat.

Around the same time as Iron Man started boozing it up, Marvel tried to give a little more tragic gravitas to the perpetually unpopular Pym by having him suffer a mental breakdown on his dismissal from the Avengers, deciding to send a robot to attack them during his court martial, and then striking the Wasp when she tried to stop him.

Of course, his plan failed, and Janet divorced him, in a storyline that barely touched upon the reality of spousal abuse in favour of evil robots. A little ill-conceived, to say the least.
