Heath Ledgers Joker was phenomenal. The twist on the classic villain quickly gained cult status amongst fans and general audiences; stores stocked up on why so serious t-shirts, and the wanna know how I got these scars? phrase became famous. You are probably questioning the relevance of this to Comic-Con, but the link is about to be made clear. The Joker became a standard costume for fancy dress parties and Comic-Con. It is impossible to go to Comic-Con and not spot a person dressed as Heath Ledgers portrayal of Batmans arch nemesis. There are varying degrees of quality, and every now and then you will see some original twists (e.g. an orange jumpsuit or the classic cartoon version), but the most pervasive costume will always be the one from The Dark Knight. Some will be nearly as menacing as the brainchild of Christopher Nolan and Heath Ledger, others will be slightly less intense. They overtake Comic-Con in their numbers, and entering a convention room filled to the brim with Jokers will always strike you with a slight bit of fear before you realise that you are at a Comic-Con.
