Think of Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. This is the human version of him. He has not got anyone to come with, and he is trying to fit into a rather snug costume which is simply too small for him. This is not an attempt to perpetuate a stereotype, but it is hard to leave it out of this list. Going to Comic-Con on your own can be fun; you can go to whatever talks take your fancy, you can peruse the merchandise at your leisure, and you can queue as long as you want for as many autographs and photographs as you can in the day. However, this ignores some of the less tangible elements of Comic-Con; the camaraderie and the solidarity you feel in being able to be at your geekiest with your friends. This single derivative of the hardcore fan is unstoppable; he is determined to go to as many talks as possible, and to have as much fun as he can. This is a somewhat enviable situation; they are not confined by what their partner/friends/parents want to do. They are the only people at Comic-Con who are fully capable of jumping around from talk to talk, from celebrity signing session to photograph session without having to think about anyone else.
