You are impressed by the costume, but you have absolutely no idea what it is. Is it from a strange little comic? Is it an original idea? Was it a game that you had no idea about? Is it a twist on an existing idea? You'll be confused and in awe all at the same time by what some people can do with an idea. These can be some of the best costumes, or they can be one of the least well received. There is nothing worse than being asked what you have come to a fancy dress party as, so imagine being asked that at Comic-Con. Never ask that question, it is a cardinal sin at Comic-Con. It would create an awkward situation that all parties involved would rather not be caught in. Sometimes they are trying to be obscure, sometimes (and perhaps worse) is when it is unintended. A subtle costume is perhaps better than one that is too in your face; rather than huge chunks or armour parading around the place wouldnt you like to see someone dressed as Zapp Brannigan from Futurama? Or a twist on a Disney classic? Armour clad costumes are certainly the most striking at first sight, but a hint of subtlety and nuance can create an amazing costume.
