15 Reasons Why Daredevil is the Greatest Superhero of All Time

8. His Stories Allow For Character Arcs Completely Separate from His Crime-Fighting

This has already been touched upon quite a bit, but because of who Matt Murdock is, and because he's more important than the character of Daredevil, he has story arcs that can take him practically anywhere. See, Daredevil is the symbol that sells the comics, but the people stay for Matt Murdock. There can be issues where Daredevil doesn't even have to show up and readers are so perfectly fine with it because of how invested they are in the drama that is Matt Murdock's life. Daredevil: Redemption that I mentioned a few times earlier? Daredevil probably shows up a handful of times. It's not a Daredevil story. It's very much a Matt Murdock story. When Murdock is imprisoned in the Ed Brubaker run? Matt Murdock story. Frank Miller's first start with The Man Without Fear? Daredevil doesn't even show up in costume until the last page. Would you read a run of comics just about Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent? You might, but what's the probability they'd be this investing?

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
