Finally, and unsurprisingly, the greatest assassin in DC's franchise is Deathstroke. DC know it - just think about how difficult and intelligent the battle with him was in Arkham: Origins, or how many side missions had to be completed in order to face him in The Arkham Knight - and so do Marvel, who based the nigh-invincible wise-cracking Deadpool almost entirely on the character. Deathstroke The Terminator is a master of martial arts, has enhanced physical powers (including the strength of ten men), and can use up to 90% of his brain capacity - thus allowing him to out-manoeuvre practically any opponent. Despite only having one eye, his vision remains impeccable, and he retains a form of regenerative healing power that allows him to recover from life-threatening injuries. He is practically unstoppable, and is - as with pretty much everyone else on this list - highly motivated and principled when it comes to money. It's impossible to emphasise how tough Slade Wilson is without highlighting the time he almost single-handedly took out the entire Justice League (minus Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman). The Flash, Green Lantern, Black Canary, Zatanna, Hawkman, Green Arrow and The Atom all fought Deathstroke at the same time, and he very nearly eliminated every single one through his tactical approach. He only failed because Green Arrow stabbed him in his missing eye and wound him up, causing an enraged Deathstroke to lose his focus. The seven heroes certainly knew they'd been in a fight. This is all very similar to the way that Deadpool took out practically every Marvel superhero, isn't it? The two characters have undoubtedly mirrored each other throughout their lifespans. Where Deadpool is crazy, humorous and gifted with full regenerative powers, Deathstroke is serious, meticulous, tactical and skilled. They should be polar opposites, but as similarly overpowered assassins they are actually remarkably comparable. One day, DC and Marvel will hopefully agree to having the two of them face off against one another. Until then, fans can only speculate - would Deadpool's unpredictability render Deathstroke's tactical genius moot, or would Deathstroke's superior skills allow him to silence The Merc With A Mouth for good?
