Created during the '90s, Carnage is a villain who perfectly summarises both the best and worst of that decade in comic books. The insane Cletus Cassidy gained his symbiote when Venom escaped from jail and left its spawn behind, and the crazed serial killer soon put the suit to "good" use during the overblown and overlong "Maximum Carnage" story arc. To this day, Carnage remains one of the most twisted members of Spider-Man's rogues gallery, and you know that it's going to be a very dark - and likely very bloody - story whenever the two go to war. His solo adventures have proved to be surprisingly popular.
