4. A Doodle Landed Jack Nicholson The Role Of The Joker In Batman
Actors land roles in movies in very different ways, but the story behind how Jack Nicholson became The Joker is very unique. He was chosen to play the Clown Prince of Crime in Tim Burton's 1989 movie after one of its producers drew the villain's signature smile over a newspaper photo of the actor in The Shining. He initially turned them down though, so Robin Williams was approached. The late actor (who never ended up starring in a Batman movie despite coming close on numerous occasions) signed on to play the self proclaimed Jester of Genocide, but was unceremoniously dumped when Nicholson changed his mind.
