2. Hugh Jackman Wasn't Bryan Singer's First Choice

Fifteen years after the release of X-Men, it's now impossible to imagine anyone else playing Wolverine on the big screen. However, the actor wasn't director Bryan Singer first or second choice initially. Russell Crowe was who he and the studio wanted, but Jackman's Les Miserables co-star ended up turning them down. It was then Dougray Scott who was cast, but scheduling conflicts led to him dropping out literally three weeks into shooting. The unknown Jackman was chosen right at the last minute as a result, a move which was considered a massive risk at the time. Still, it ended up working out pretty damn well.
