5. John Stewart Destroyed A Planet

For years, John Stewart lived with the guilt of being unable to stop the destruction of Xanshi, left close to suicide after his failure. Years later though, this popular Green Lantern didn't hesitate to do what he considered the right thing when he destroyed Mogo, a sentient planet who was a member of the Green Lantern Corps. Sure, Mogo had been corrupted and was being used to create waves of new killer Green Lanterns, so John didn't really have a choice, but was once again left feeling pretty rotten. However, things all ended up working out OK when the planet later reassembled itself and forgave him for pulling the trigger.
