5 Best Batman Christmas Stories

3. Long Halloween #3

Christmas Joker
DC Comics

This is the only entry on this list that is one chapter in a greater story. If you haven't read Long Halloween in its entirety, you should immediately fix that. The overall story focuses on an unknown killer that strikes every month on a different holiday, so of course for December, the story takes place on Christmas.

The standout character in this issue is the Joker. Looking exceptionally Grinch-like, the Joker starts his story by stealing Christmas from a family. This image stands out as it is delightfully charming, in a twisted kind of way.

The Joker is upset that this new holiday killer is making all of Gotham's citizens and criminals afraid. He decides that he needs to take out Holiday, since there can only be one homicidal maniac in Gotham.

Clearly the only way to ensure he kills the unknown Holiday is just to murder everyone in Gotham. How he goes about this won't be spoiled here. This is one of the best issues in Long Halloween and stands out as one of the best Batman Christmas stories as well.
