2. Peter Parker (Again!)
Spider-Man fans were shocked as Amazing Spider-Man ended with the dying Doc Ock able to switch his mind with that of Peter's, putting him in Peter's body and Peter's mind in Otto's. As "Otto" died, so did Peter Parker. Or did he? A fragment of Peter remained in his body, presented as a ghost that only the reader could see while acting as the reader's sense of outrage at the Superior Spider-Man's behaviour. Fans held out hope that Peter would somehow find a way to regain control of his body and return triumphantly as the Amazing Spider-Man once more. That is until Otto realised part of Peter remained in his brain and the two had an epic showdown inside the head of Peter Parker! And it was epic as good as Superior Spider-Man has been, who wasn't rooting for Peter to once more defeat the villain and become the hero again? Otto was able to vanquish what remained of Peter to become "Peter Parker" completely. It was a great fight to the death and another excellent (superior) storyline for this series. Or did he? In later issues of Superior Spider-Man when Otto is trying to recall Peter's memories, there was a wordless, ambiguous panel featuring the silhouette of what looked like Peter emerging from the wreckage his state was left in after Otto defeated him. So has Peter Parker died for good? Probably not. He'll be back one day - though hopefully not too soon as Superior Spider-Man is awesome!
