5 Reasons To Take Ant-Man Seriously

4. Brain Power

Hank Pym is seriously intelligent. Not only did he discover and utilise the power of the Pym Particles, he also invented a ridiculous number of gadgets including the aforementioned toolbot and a cybernetic helmet which enables him to communicate with ants and other higher order insects. Did I mention he also developed wings that would enable him and the Wasp to fly? Oh yeah, and then there are the bio-blasters he invented which deliver an electric charge through his gloves, known as 'stingers'. All that brain power has not always been put to good use though. Early on in his superhero career, Pym created a robot called Ultron who rebelled and became one of the Avengers most formidable adversaries. That may not have been such a smart move, but the fact that Pym somehow made an unstoppable machine out of adamantium, the strongest material in the Marvel Universe, is still pretty impressive! Not enough for you? Well, what about the fact that the cosmic being Eternity singled out Pym as Scientist Supreme... which must kind of mean something good I guess? Reed Richards and Tony Stark were cast aside in favour of Pym and hell, even Einstein didn't get a look in! The second Ant-Man, Scott Lang, may not be the Scientist Supreme, but he is an electronics expert whose intelligence has been recognised as worthy of respect in its own right. For a time, Lang even replaced know-it-all Reed Richards as a technical consultant for the Fantastic Four and that's the guy who BusinessWeek listed as one of the top ten most intelligent fictional characters in American comics. Still, Lang is no Scientist Supreme though...
