5 Reasons Why Comics Are Better Than Ever Right Now

2. Comics Are More Diverse Than Ever Before

Creators of different races, ethnicities, religions, genders and sexualities have always existed, but only in recent years have they been actually allowed to express their voices through the characters they create.

Now, such things have always been going on in independent comics, but Marvel and DC helping creators like G Willow Wilson and James Tynion IV reach mainstream audiences is a huge step in the right direction.

Not only are we seeing more diversity in staff and creators working on the most famous comics out there right now, we're also seeing more diversity within those comics as a result. The best example of this by far is Kamala Khan's Ms Marvel, a Pakistani-American Muslim teenager who's become Marvel's biggest breakout star superhero in the past decade.

Diversifying your staff and allowing them to tell the stories they want (within reason of course) makes the world they proceed to create feel more alive and the stories more varied. Something Marvel in particular had desperately needed for quite some time.
