5 Things That Must Happen In Buffy Season 11 Comics

3. Resolve The Buffy And Angel Romance

This is the main part of these comics that blows my mind and should in no way be a part of this world anymore. The door for the Buffy/Angel romance is still being left open. They broke up 18 years ago. It's weird and unhealthy that they haven't fully moved on.

The idea of an endless, undying love worked when Buffy was a teenager. It makes total sense that someone at that age would have that idealized fantasy about romance. It was the star crossed lovers that always makes for a great story, but the difference here is the story continued after the romance burned out. Buffy has grown as a character and this hanging thread feels so regressive to her development.

We can assume that Buffy is at least in her late 20s, maybe early 30s. No one should be hung up on their high school relationship at that point in life. It's unlikely that the two will ever get back together, but even leaving the possibility is a level of fanservice that should never have been reintroduced. It would show real development if her dynamic with Angel changed into something else and moved away from the "will they, won't they" story.
