5 Things You Didn't Know About The Wolverine

1. Wolverine Is Not Very Tall & Was Almost Dumped As He Wasn't Exciting Enough

The-Wolverine-2013-Chris-Claremont-Frank-Miller Finally, and this one may surprise everyone who is used to Hugh Jackman's portrayal, the Wolverine of the comics is only five feet three inches tall. You may never have noticed this thanks to how he is drawn: hunched over and claws out, see Jim Lee's run. This is confirmed by the Marvel database, and it makes him one of the smallest characters in the Marvel universe. According to his Marvel biography Wolverine weighed in at 195 pounds prior to the Weapon X program, but now tips the scales at over 300 pounds. Another thing that new fans of the series may not know is that when Wolverine first joined the X-Men in 1975 he was a background character. He was seen as interchangeable and his position on the team was shaky at best. He lacked any real definition and was as bland as Cyclops. He was in no way seen as exciting. It wasn't until artist John Byrne intervened and saved Logan from being tossed out of the group. Byrne, a Canadian, didn't want to see one of Marvel's only Canadian characters at the time, thrown out their most popular series. This move paved the way for the revamp of Logan by Miller and Claremont. Did I miss anything? What was your favourite fact about Wolverine?
