50 Reasons Why Superman is The Greatest Superhero Ever

40. Clark Kent

Clark Kent is one of the most powerful reporters at the Daily Planet. In many incarnations he's an award winning journalist who competes with the best, and always comes out on top. When Superman isn't fighting crime, Clark Kent is at the computer writing a new article that will challenge corrupt government, politicians, and law enforcement.

39. Lois Lane

Lois Lane is an attractive force of nature to Clark Kent, because he grew up in Kansas around country girls. And once he enters Metropolis he's introduced to this independent, fierce and competitive female journalist who challenges him at every turn and doesn't hold back. Lois is the epitome of feminism in pop culture and one of the few characters whose evaded being fetishized. That is until "Smallville," but my gripes for the series is another topic for another article.

38. Ma and Pa Kent

Ma and Pa Kent are the prevalent forces of good in Clark's life. He's an alien being who was influenced by the good of mankind to do good with the gifts he was given. In many incarnations the death of Pa Kent inspires Clark to seek out his fortune and do his father's legacy proud. The emotional and physical support of his parents keeps Superman fighting the good fight.

37. His Humility

Superman as a character is humble and filled with enough reluctance that he's almost always perceived as someone who can't threaten even the most powerful despot in the galaxy. It's Superman's humility that keeps him grounded and ultimately makes him a superhero who narrowly avoids a god complex every single time.

36. He Can Camouflage Among Us

Superman has the ability to hide among us and in many incarnations it's stated he has the ability to change vocal functions and posture to where the upright and bold Superman can't be singled out from the insignificant slumping Clark Kent. Clark Kent is a character Kal El must play every day and as a man he's often meek, inconspicuous and ignored. In "Birthright" his act is so good he's excluded from an office gathering, and in "Superman Returns" he's often ignored by the people around him.
