50 Reasons Why Superman is The Greatest Superhero Ever

35. He's A Scientist

Superman is in possession of technology the planet is many many years away from ever developing, and often times he's someone whose developed tech for his Fortress of Solitude, he's built his own robotic guards for his fortress and programmed them, and he's studied many sciences and genetics that he uses in his fortress. Superman isn't all punching walls.

34. He's Void Of Angst

Sure Superman lost his parents, his home world, and is the only one left of his species, but he rarely has time to whine about it. He's just too concerned with fighting for humanity to do so. It's been the central device of many Superman storylines but it hasn't been the core of the character as it has been for other popular comic book characters.

33. Superman's Goals Are Selfless

Superman hopes to use his powers to benefit mankind and the world, and he does so at the cost of his own sanity and life a hundred times over. Superman believes if he uses his powers and uses them wisely, he can help others at no thought of his own well being.

32. His Roots Can Be Traced Back To Judaism

Superman was invented by two Jewish artists while Superman's birth name "Kal-El" resembles words in Hebrew meaning "Vessel of God." The suffix "el" meaning "God" is found in the names of a few angels such as Gabriel and Ariel. Superman was heavily influenced and based around the character Moses in the bible who was sent by his parents in to the wilderness and eventually discovered by a foreign civilization who'd raise him to become a grand individual with powers of his own.

31. He's The Most Complex, Thus The Most Misunderstood

Many people confuse Superman for some musclebound thug who flies around punching and lifting things. In many media depicting the man of steel, he's there simply just to lift something big or fight a big bulking monster. Superman is actually a very complex individual who many writers don't quite understand or even want to understand. Superman is filled with so many dimensions as a being alienated from society, as a being who cherishes life and uses it to help others keep moving and many writers just aren't up to the task to try and figure him out. Which is a shame. In the right hands Superman is amazing.
