6. Indestructible #2 by Jeff Kline, Javi Garron and Salvi Garcia (IDW)
In a world where superheroes are the biggest celebrities, Greg Pincus is a non-powered nobody. That is until a late night robbery in probably the last video store in America takes an odd twist and the resulting security camera footage makes it look like he's impervious to bullets! Suddenly Greg is on the news, being courted by a prestigious superhero team, and is being chased by the FBI for not registering as a supe - and all he wanted was to avoid late fees! How long can he keep up the charade of being a superhero without any superpowers, and what shenanigans will the farce land him in? Jeff Kline and co. have come up with a fresh take on the superhero genre with Indestructible. An ordinary dude like you and me thrust into the role of superhero is a story that's ripe for exploring. Greg meets Frank Woodward, a superhero and a lawyer who's part of the League of Defenders (no prizes for guessing who they're a parody of) who is also an ingenious creation - a superhero little person? Brilliant! I don't think that's ever been done before - let's chalk that up to the Dinklage effect! There's a really funny scene at a fast food restaurant as Greg experiences what it's like to be a celebrity, with people come up to Greg to have their photo taken with him. One guy walks up to him and clocks him in the guts as he tries to maintain the façade that he's indestructible. Greg's facial expression and the guy's look of disbelief afterwards is pitch perfect comedy. The story looks to take a dark turn in the next issue as some terrorists prepare for an attack and Greg's probably going to be thrown their way to test his superhero status. Indestructible has a great premise, fun characters, and a really enjoyable story, and the second issue lives up to all of that. It's a really good series to check out if you like your superhero comics with a twist.
