6 Drastic Comic Book Changes That Won't Stick

6. The Mutant Schism

With the conclusion of Avengers vs X-men, the events of Schism were all but buried. The fall of Utopia meant that Cyclops' X-men no longer had a home. The actions of the Phoenix Five meant that many of them were viewed as criminals. As a result, most of the teams were dissolved, and the characters that had sided with Cyclops either faded into obscurity or drifted into titles already focusing on Wolverine's group. Even major players in Cyclops's team such as Storm and Colossus are now firmly ensconced in the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, any earlier enmity with their teammates all but forgotten. The one exception came in Uncanny X-men, where Cyclops, now considered a murderer and outlaw, gathered together a new group of mutants in a secret New Xavier School. Assisted by Emma Frost, Magik, and Magneto, Cyclops declared himself the leader of a new, if ill-defined, mutant revolution. But recent events have led to Cyclops finally admitting his guilt, closing his school, and being abandoned by the few X-men who remained on his side. With Uncanny X-men concluding in October, it seems likely that the last vestiges of Schism are about to fade into history once and for all. Normal service will resume: October 2015

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
