Valiant Entertainment is the rising star of the comic book world, but one that you still might not have heard of.

Fans of every level of dedication are familiar with DC and Marvel and, thanks to the books like The Walking Dead and Hellboy, smaller companies like Image and Dark Horse have made their mark. However, now there is another company on the rise, and it's one you're going to want to get familiar with quickly.

They have six books in the Top 20 Small Press Comics for August of 2015 and they've already signed multi-picture movie deals with Sony Pictures and DMG Entertainment. A by product of the increased in the amount of people turning to comic books for their entertainment? Certainly, but an incredibly exciting and original group nonetheless.

In the coming months and years, Valiant is set to capitalize on this opportunity and take its place among the leaders in the industry. Their heroes might not be household names yet, but the company as a whole has so much going for it that it's only a matter of time.

6. They're Not Drowning In Continuity

Bloodshot Reborn
Valiant Comics

DC comics tried to create a fresh start for themselves with the New 52 reboot a few years ago, but even that effort still had confusing bits of past stories hanging on and it was always unclear what made it through the reboot and what didn’t. Marvel has a habit of putting out new number ones of continuing series to attract new readers but all of them are still attached to the history of the previous books. All of this can lead to confusion and frustration on the part of the readers.

Since the 2012 relaunch, Valiant has made a concerted effort to keep their stories clear and their characters accessible. When their books and heroes do crossover, the other books are allowed to function outside of the crossovers or events. You can read the characters how you want to and follow the stories you want to.

These characters have been around before the relaunch and those comics are out there if you want to hit the long boxes of back issues at your local shops, but if you just wanted to get into the current Valiant universe you won’t have near as high of a mountain to climb. Plus with digital comic availability, you won’t have to hit the long boxes unless you want to.
