7 Best Times DC Characters Used Power Rings
5. Lex Luthor - Orange Ring (Blackest Night)
As suggested earlier, when a character is given a ring the moment is often equatable to when someone in the Marvel Universe is able to pick up Mjolnir - such instances being used to exemplify just how good of a hero that character is.
This is not the case here.
Giving an orange ring to Lex Luthor serves not to show the character's heroism, but rather his greed. It is a moment that conveys the obvious, like if Joker were to be chosen by an object that represented chaos, but it is the blatant nature of this that makes it so good. It confirmed once and for all that Luthor has always been motivated by his avarice and nothing else.
Such a confirmation basically acted as a big, in universe eff-you to the character, and it was brilliant.
