7 Completely Insane Team-Ups In Recent DC Comics

5. The JLA And The Doom Patrol

Milk Wars was the most insane crossover story of all time. Full stop. From the basic premise, which involves the heroes fighting the Retconn corporation to prevent them from "homogenizing" all reality, to the conservative 1950s conceptions of the Trinity, to the unexpected interactions of the teams involved.

As completely bonkers as the homogenization-obsessed Milkman Man was, or just the idea of a sentient ambulance with godlike powers, nothing could be more wild than seeing Batman saying "Here, now... We fight a mystery with mystery... muscle mystery," while pointing to Flex Mentallo.

Despite Morrison's homage to The Dark Knight Returns on a Flex Mentallo cover from the nineties, the characters couldn't be more different from one another, and their stark contrast makes for a great read - not to mention the rest of the characters meshed together in this weird, weird story. It's bizarre storytelling at its best.
