7 Reasons Aquaman Deserves His Second Ongoing Series

7. He Has Never Been More Prominent In Other Media

A1ip5 Gif While the embarrassing Super-Friends cartoon remained the enduringly popular image of the character, Arthur's other appearances were limited to a few cameo appearances in the Justice League cartoon. His founding member status revoked, the character was reintroduced as the harpoon-handed Aquaman from the 90's, a product of the Rob Liefeld era. Thankfully, Aquaman's presence outside of the comics have slowly begun to reflect his prominence within. Smallville's incarnation, starring Alan Richardson as an A.C. unaware of his origins, featured the hero as an eco-warrior, whose radical methods came into conflict with Clark Kent's boy-scout ideals. A solid approach to the character, 'Aqua' remained the highest rated episode of Smallville's fifth season. Although Arthur got the shaft in JL for an ethnic Hawkgirl, evening out the demographics, the Batman: Brave and the Bold's incarnation of the hero was definitely worth the wait. A boisterous strongman, earnest to the core, this Aquaman alternated between starring in a sitcom about his family, bothering Batman and Green Arrow, and spouting his signature catchphrase: "Outrageous!" The bearded design, together with the classic costume, has made it's way into Young Justice as well as the comic book itself. His presence in Injustice: Gods Among Us gave gamers a chance to wield Aquaman's trident for themselves, getting to grips with hydrokinesis and electric moves seen in Young Justice's Aqualad. The game featured an Atlantean army being led against Superman's rule, reminiscent of the Throne of Atlantis crossover. Cool.
