6. His Founding Member Status
The New 52 movement has reintroduced Aquaman at the heart of the Justice League. Thought most likely to be removed and be replaced with someone more contemporary, Martian Manhunter was removed instead to make way for Cyborg, child of the digital age. Having Aquaman in such a prominent role once more has created a ripple effect throughout the universe. Being a King, he has to humble himself in his role as one seventh of the most powerful collective on the planet, obeying the orders of Batman, Superman, and (occasionally) Green Lantern. Atlantis has also become an important location in the New 52: having Aquaman take such an active role means that the sovereign undersea nation must be acknowledged by the power players.
