5. DC Comics Ditches Diamond
Of all the WTF comics moments of 2020, this one was probably the most positive. Probably.
Diamond's monopoly on distribution has been a problem for years now, and to their credit, DC finally divested from them last year during the shutdown. Beginning in the summer, the publisher shifted distribution to two companies: Lunar Distribution and UCS Distributors, although not without some frustration to comics retailers.
There's no overstating just how big a change this was. Diamond have been the predominant comics distributor for yonks, and for DC to pursue other distributors so quickly took pretty much everyone by surprise.
The change looks to have paid off however, so at least one WTF moment this year yielded semi-positive results.
