8 Comic Book Characters Who Should Have Stayed Dead

There is an adage that goes, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!" and this is never more true than when it comes to the death of a beloved character.

During the DC crossover Infinite Crisis, Superboy-Prime killed Connor Kent but within six months he had returned from beyond the grave. An observant reader could have seen that several unresolved plot threads would necessitate Connor Kent's resurrection.

Like countless other temporary or short term deaths, this would come to personify just how meaningless the powers that be at both Marvel and DC view the loss of life. Resurrections like this would breed generations of jaded and cynical readers who now see every hero's fall or villains ultimate triumph as little more than a publicity stunt or an excuse to remove a given character from the board temporarily.

In an age where perception is reality, there can be no greater crime than devaluing how readers view your product.
