8 Comic Book Villains Humiliated By Wolverine

6. Thanos - What If: Newer Fantastic Four

Anyone who's read the original Infinity Gauntlet saga by Jim Starlin, George Peréz and Ron Lim will know that Wolverine doesn't exactly fare well in it.

When the time comes for the heroes of Earth to take on Thanos, who has just snapped away half of existence as we know it, the Mad Titan picks up the Canucklehead and turns his adamantium bones to jelly, leaving him on the floor looking like a weird, meatless sausage. It's not a great look for ol' Wolvie, and it remains the case to this day that he's never really gotten the chance to take his revenge for the inconvenience his de-boning caused.

Or at least, the main 616 Wolverine hasn't. In What If: Newer Fantastic Four by Paul Tobin, Patrick Scherberger and Chris Sotomayor, Logan is able to dupe Thanos into lowering his guard long enough for him to surprise him with a sneak attack.

Tricking the Mad Titan into thinking he was a new ally, Wolvie plays up his anxieties regarding Lady Death, convincing him that all he needs to do in order to gain her affections is to offer her a loving touch.

Thanos, clearly taken aback by Logan's romantic advice, proceeds to touch Lady Death's face, providing Wolvie with the opportune moment to comically plunge his claws into the Mad Titan's arm, severing his connection to the gauntlet in an abrupt and hilarious fashion.
