3. Marvel Knights: Punisher & Wolverine (2004)
To say Frank Castle is no stranger to confrontation is an understatement. Once you make a vow to eradicate the scum and villainy of the world, you got to be ready to get your hands dirty. No altercation is messier than one in the Marvel Knights Punisher series, written by Garth Ennis.
Someone is sawing the legs off of mobsters. When Wolverine catches wind, he follows a trail of blood which leads him directly to the Punisher, who is also investigating the matter. Thinking each other is the criminal Wolverine lunges at Punisher, and gets a shotgun blast to the face.
With no skin left on his face Logan bloodies Frank up with some claw strikes, before Franks hit him in the privates with a baseball bat. Castle tries to light Wolverine on fire but is interrupted by a gang led by dwarf crime boss Tony Casino.
Tony had been cutting the legs off mobsters as revenge for being discriminated against. Backed into a corner, Wolverine and Punisher team up to take on the villains and defeat them. Afterwards, Wolverine is subdued when Castle decides to park a steamroller on top of him. No hard feelings, Logan.
